Five sessions two for the Long Composition evaluation and three for the
Reading & Comprehension tests each approximately 45 minutes in duration

Test sessions are not strictly timed; students may work beyond 45 minutes
"within reason."

Use of a dictionary available in the testing room is permitted
during the long composition sessions.

| Long Composition Test Format |

Begins with a Writing Prompt, a brief written presentation of a topic (or issue)
including a description of the circumstances requiring individual expression
through writing.
|

Based on the Writing Prompt, students are expected to prepare a detailed writing
sample.
|
 |
The first session is intended to be used for idea development and preparation of
an outline or first draft while the second session is intended for revision and
finalization of the composition, including the application of proper English
grammar, diction, syntax, and punctuation.

| Reading & Comprehension Test Format
|
 |
Presents approximately six to ten reading selections.
|
 |
Following each selection, a set of five to seven relevant questions is
presented.
|
 |
A combination of multiple choice and open response questions comprises each set.
Open response questions require the student to compose an original response
consisting of multiple sentences.
